G.O.A.’L will hold its September Monthly Meeting on September 24th.(Sat.) 4pm at KoRoot seminar room.
We will watch Unlocking the Heart of Adoption, a new documentary by Shiela Ganz.

Unlocking the Heart of Adoption chronicles the filmmaker’s journey as a birthmother interwoven with diverse personal stories of adoptees, birthparents and adoptive parents in both same race and transracial adoptions. ……
Their stories provide a window into the lifelong process of adoption following the path of relinquishment, adoption, growing up adopted, raising an adopted child, years of silence and shame, and searching for answers to unasked questions. 시놉시스 중에서:
“입양의 마음을 말하다(Unlocking the Heart of Adoption)”는 감독이 아이를 포기한 친어머니로서 가진 경험과 타인종, 동인종간 입양인, 친부모, 입양부모들의 경험을 엮어 만든 기록이다….
그들의 이야기는 입양이라는 전 생애에 걸친 과정을 볼 수 있게 해 준다. 아이의 포기, 입양, 입양인으로서 성장하기, 입양아의 양육, 몇 년간에 걸친 침묵과 부끄러움, 물어보지 못했던 질문의 답을 찾는 것 등을 살펴 보는 것이다. 이 과정에서 이 사람들은 “정체성”, “상실”, “진리에 대한 요구” 라는 보편적 문제가 자신들에게 어떠한 의미인지 설명해 주고 있다. ..”
