The Letter Never Sent-second edition: call for submissions

The Adoptee Homecoming Support Center at the International Educational & Cultural Exchange Foundation (IECEF) is currently accepting submissions for the 2nd edition of The Letter Never Sent book series. The Letter Never Sent is a collection of letters written by Korean adoptees to their birth parents and published in both English and Korean languages. IECEF published the first edition in August of 2004 and distributed it at the Korean Adoptee Gathering 2004 which was held in Seoul.
>
>By publishing The Letter Never Sent we hope to provide an additional unique space for adoptees to share their writing, and to express their thoughts, experiences, and feelings as they relate to birth family. Ultimately, we hope the book will be helpful to adoptees that are searching for their birth families. We also believe in the importance of challenging the secrecy and social stigma that has traditionally been attached to adoption. We hope that by doing this, it will eventually lead to more open discussion about adoption in Korean society. We believe that there is a critical role Korean adoptees can play in this effort.
>
>If you would like to write a letter we encourage you to write candidly, there is no limit on the length of letters. You may disclose as much identifying information as you would like, anonymous letters are also welcome. Pictures sent in any form will be included with your letter. For those people who are in the process of searching for their birth families but do not wish to submit a letter, we can include your adoption information and photographs in the second half of the book.
>
>The deadline for submissions to our office is November 30th, 2004. Please send them to: eunyung@iecef.org  You may also email this address if you have any questions.
>Sincerely,
>Jessica EunYung Fairbanks
