The trains are efficient. A high-speed service(KTX) runs the length of the country and there are several local trains. Trains are clean, safe, and punctual, and just about every station has sign in Korean and English. Trains are the best option for long-distance travel(without any traffic!) and mugunghwa trains cost less than deluxe buses. Trains are operated by Korea National Railroad.

Buses are fast, safe and on time. There are two types of bus, express and intercity - the former go direct and the latter stop. Seats are reserved on the express buses (if you miss your bus, you must buy a new ticket), and unreserved on the intercity services.

The express bus has two levels of quality; one is the premium bus(U-deung) and the other is regular(Il-ban). Udeung bus is more expensive, but seats are more comfortable.

Most cities have buses, but it may be inconvenient if you do not know Korean. There are not many signs in English. You can get more information on Seoul bus system, visit this site:

Taxis are safe and inexpensive in Korea , although it is more expensive than bus or subway. There are taxi stands in most of the city areas, and taxis can also be hailed on the streets and at taxi stands. In addition, certain taxis can be requested by phone, though the fare for these special call taxis is somewhat higher than regular taxis. Most taxi drivers do not speak English, so it is advisable to tell him or her the names of the different landmarks (e.g. major hotels or attractions) near your destination. Vacant taxis have red indicator lamps in front of the front passenger seat and on the roof.
